We had a huge Thomas the Tank Engine train cake ordered for D's kindergarten for his birthday. It was the first time the chef had made such a design and we gave him D's Thomas toy as an example, and the whole thing costed €40. But the cake turned out to be huge, suitable for 19 kids and 5 adults, and it was really pretty too. Though D's kindergarten had a weird policy about taking other childrens' photos and we were kind of rushed into the whole thing with the kids having to change and eat etc, we just took some photos and scrammed out of there. So that resulted in us having not many photos and not so much angles either. I was a little frustrated, and I'll be sure to throw D's next birthday somewhere else next year.

We had a private tea party for Daniel's birthday at Cafe Laden, my favourite coffee shop. They don't have much cake selection, but what they have are simply to die for...

Okay, so this are really old photos, one year back and when I was still using my Casio Exilim 4.0 compact camera. But I did some noise editing, and I think my angles are a little more different now from back then...what say you?

The town of Kranichfeld is called 'zwei burgen stadt' or the town with two castles, Kranichfeld has just that, two castles placed on two different hills less than 1 km away. Legend has it that there were once two brothers named Wolfer and Lutger who lived in Oberschloss, the town's main castle. After some arguments, they divided all the belongings and parted ways. The older brother Wolfer remained at the castle while the younger brother Lutger left to make his fortune somewhere else, making the promise that he will be back to build his own castle when he returns. Wolfer did not take Lutger's promise seriously and vowed that he will lick his own ass (leckarsch) if this happens. Years later, Lutger returned and built the castle he promised, a castle called Niederburg. Wolfer tried to fulfill his promise but failed. So, Wolfer took his own life instead. As a reminder of this incident, Lutger built a small sculpture at his brother's castle which shows the attempt of Wolfer in keeping his vow.

Okay, so I didn't go to Amsterdam this year when I went to Delft, but I did go there last year in February. So I guess this is the best time to revisit Amsterdam. Mind you, this was during the pre-DSLR era, so some noise is expected. But enjoy, anyway...

On the way back from Amsterdam, we made a stop at Duisburg. We took D to visit the Legoland Discovery Center and look! Even Harry Potter is there? Cool, eh?
